Lenovo Laptop Not Turning On in Erith

The customer first contacted ALVA PC at 9:58 AM on 28 July. Their Lenovo laptop had suddenly stopped working and they wanted to know whether we could help.

We started with a few basic questions to understand what was happening. The customer confirmed that it was a Lenovo and explained that a yellow indicator light was visible, but apart from that the laptop did nothing when they tried to turn it on.

A power or charging indicator by itself is not enough to identify the cause of a laptop that will not start. Several different faults can produce similar symptoms. Rather than guessing remotely or asking the customer to perform complicated troubleshooting, we offered to collect the laptop from their home in Erith and diagnose the problem properly.

Free Laptop Collection in Erith

At 10:14 AM, after establishing the basic symptoms, we offered the customer free local collection and diagnosis. By 10:17 AM — just 19 minutes after the original enquiry — the collection arrangements had been agreed.

Diagnosing the Lenovo Yoga Power Fault

Once the laptop reached the workshop, it was assessed to determine why there was an indication of power but the computer would not start normally. The diagnosis pointed to a motherboard-related power fault.

We provided the customer with a written diagnostic report explaining what had been found and the proposed repair. At this stage the work had not yet been authorised. The customer could review the diagnosis, ask questions and decide whether they wanted us to continue.

The customer specifically asked what would happen if the existing motherboard could not be repaired. We explained that the motherboard repair was covered by our No Fix, No Fee approach. If repair of the existing board proved unsuccessful, alternative options would be discussed separately before any additional parts were ordered or further work carried out.

After receiving the diagnosis and having the repair options explained, the customer gave us permission to proceed. No payment was required before the repair began.

The motherboard-level repair was successful and the Lenovo Yoga was restored to working condition. Following completion and testing, the laptop was returned directly to the customer’s home in Erith at 6:48 PM on 1 August.

The entire process had been handled for the customer: collection from their home, diagnosis, explanation of the fault, authorised repair, testing and return of the working laptop.
